The Axemen's bid to beat #2 ranked Lake Oswego in the second round of the OSAA Class 4a playoffs fell short, as the Lakers prevailed 21-14 in a game where the end result was in doubt until the final minute.
Unfortunately the Eugene Register Guard, in an embarrassing act of tabloid style journalism, featured post game photos of distraught Axemen seniors on the top of the front page and the front page of the sports section in the following day's paper.
